Don’t Let the Pieces Scare You!
First, I would like to make it clear that this is NOT to sell the product. I am not an affiliate. (Fingered crossed LOL). I will not be making money off any links below. I just really like the thing, especially after trying the other options.
Making your own herbal capsules is a cool way to save money and customize your supplements. You can also be sure of exactly what is in those capsules! Filling capsules one at a time is about as exciting as watching paint dry.
My mom and I used to do it years ago when we were bored. Just to chit-chat and keep us busy. Because when else would you want to do that?? I’ve also tried small blocks that hold one end of the capsule, so you can fill multiple capsules. While better, it’s still a pain.
That’s where the Capsule-It by Herb Affair comes in. The Capsule-It is designed to help fill multiple capsules at one time, 100 to be exact. Making the process so much faster than filling by hand.

First Impressions
I decided to give it a try, and my first reaction was simple: ” Why are there so many pieces? Seriously?!”
The construction feels sturdy, and the components fit together well. Nothing felt flimsy or poorly made. The biggest challenge wasn’t the product’s quality; it was learning the process.

When opening the package, I found several trays, parts, and accessories staring at me. For a minute, I wondered if I had ordered a capsule-filling machine or a small puzzle kit! The setup looked intimidating, and I wasn’t immediately sure how everything fit together. Even with the instruction.
Fortunately, unlike some instruction manuals that seem to have been translated through six different languages and a fortune cookie, these actually made sense. A little. I did find it best to do a practice round and refer back to the instructions as I went. Then it all started to come together. Really bad pun intended.
You can try with a few empty capsules if you’d like, and then separate them again once you’re done. This will help you get the hang of it without making a mess or wasting products.
How to Use the Capsule-It
While the included instructions do explain the process, here’s a quick overview:
Step 1: Separate Your Capsules
Begin by separating the capsule tops from the bottoms. This may take a little time, depending on how many you’re filling. Some brands, when purchased, come already separated into different bags. If you buy them from Herb Affair, they’re separated. It is much faster than pulling them apart and then putting them back together.
Other brands may do the same, so read your product descriptions closely.

Step 2: Load the Capsule Tray
Place the larger capsule halves into the filling tray according to the instructions.

Step 3: Add Your Herbal Powder
Spread your powdered herbs across the tray and use the included scraper or card to distribute the powder evenly.

Step 4: Pack and Fill
Continue filling and packing the capsules until they reach your desired level. There is a weird tray that helps this part of the process. The capsules may look full, but there can be air pockets.

Step 5: Add the Capsule Tops
Place the capsule tops in the appropriate tray section and align everything as directed.
Step 6: Close the Capsules
Press the trays together to lock the capsules closed.

That’s it. Once you’ve completed a batch or two, the process becomes second nature
Performance
The Capsule-It does exactly what it’s supposed to do. It speeds up the capsule-making process, creates more consistent filling, and reduces the frustration that often comes with filling capsules one at a time or in those annoying little block thingys.
It also helps contain the inevitable powder mess. To be fair, herbs & powders seem to have this magical ability to escape, no matter how careful you are. I recommend working over a barrier to make cleanup easier and to protect the surface you’re working on. You can use a towel, if it won’t stain, a trash bag, parchment paper, etc.
Final Thoughts
The Capsule-It by Herb Affair may seem a little overwhelming at first. The multiple pieces can be confusing at first glance, and you may spend a few minutes wondering where each goes.
Once you follow the instructions and complete your first batch, the entire system starts to make sense. After that initial learning period, the process becomes straightforward, efficient, and surprisingly satisfying.
Overall, I found the Capsule-It to be well-made, easy to use once learned, and a valuable tool for anyone who frequently makes their own herbal capsules. Just remember to order extra capsules—you’ll probably need them sooner than you think.
Quick Notes
*No. You would ever make it fit perfectly back into the stupid box. 🙁
*You need to order a certain kit for the size of pills you want to make. I find Size 0 to be the typical size for large vitamin or herbal pills, but if you prefer something smaller, do your research!
*You can find vegan capsules if that is your preference
